Where: Wellington, New Zealand
Described as, “a rebellion against the mundane”, the Wellington’s World of Wearable Arts combines both art and fashion, and has gained international acclaim for its originality.
The event began in 1987 as a promotion for Suzie Moncrieff’s Nelson art gallery with the idea of exhibiting art as part of a live theatrical show. The event has now crossed to the North Island where it is now held annually in Wellington.
The idea behind WOW is that anybody can create and show garments that are constructed from the normal to the sublime. If shortlisted, these weird and wonderful creations are showcased in a spectacularly unique blend of art and fashion.
