Where: Catalonia, Spain
Not a single festival this one but the bizarre nature of the events make it a real beauty. Vilafranca is just one of many festivals that take place all over Catalonia, mostly during the summer months. The tradition is attributed to a popular 17th century Valencian dance, the Ball de Valencians, where several people balanced on each other’s shoulders.
Vilafranca, as with the other festivals of this nature attracts huge crowds who enjoy the tower building spectacle, as well as the feasting and other events.
